Margaret Ann Oestreicher of Du Quoin

Margaret Ann Oestreicher, age 84, of Du Quoin, Illinois, passed away at 12:31 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her family.

Margaret was born on Jan. 24, 1937 in Pinckneyville, Illinois, a daughter to Herbert Elsworth and Sarah Ellen (Craig) Wolfe. She married William "Bill" H. Oestreicher on May 14, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church in Du Quoin, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2017.

She attended Old Du Quoin Baptist Church and was a member of the Senior Citizen Quilting Club.

Margaret had various jobs over the years, beginning at Pinckneyville Community Hospital. She was also a cafeteria worker at J.B. Ward School and Du Quoin High School, an employee of Turco and she retired from the Walmart fabric department after 20 years.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, fishing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her two sons, Jeff Oestreicher (fiancee Belinda Altig) of Tamaroa, Illinois and David (Lea) Oestreicher of Du Quoin; two daughters, Mona Hines (Carl Futrell) of Henderson, Kentucky and Diana (Tony) Skidmore of Du Quoin; six grandchildren, Amy, Michele (Steve), Amber (Darren), Brittany (James), Ashley (André) and Autumn; nine great-grandchildren, Brett, Madison, Jordan, Brayden, Macey, Aydan, Auna, Ethan and Alexander; her sister, Mary Lou (Minnie) Nevitt of Springfield, Illinois; her sister-in-law, Marlene Wolfe; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband and six brothers, Rodney, Donald, Herbert, Harold, Robert and James Wolfe.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Pyatt Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with Brother Ted Clark officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin.

Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home in Du Quoin on Tuesday prior to the funeral, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, social distancing will be enforced and all attendees are asked to wear a mask.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church.
