PCHS wins divisional ACES competition
Pinckneyville High School won first place in their division of the Academic Challenge for Engineering and Science in the Rend Lake College District. Science teacher Tod Rushing is the adviser for ACES.
ACES is formerly WYSE/JETS, or Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Program/Junior Engineering Technical Society.
PCHS students earned 8 first place medals, four 2nd place medals and four 3rd place medals. The winners are:
Biology: 1st place, Layne Jones and Faith Smith; 2nd place Sallee Collins; 3rd place Karli Shockley.
Chemistry: 1st place, Bailey Niedbalski; 2nd place Kenzie Rushing; 3rd place Daci Palmer.
Computer Science: 1st place, Thomas Burdell.
Engineering Graphics: 1st place, Thomas Burdell.
English, 1st place, Layne Jones; 2nd place Sallee Collins; 3rd place, Carly Heisner.
Mathematics, 1st place, Lily Tanner; 2nd place, Kenzie Rushing; 3rd place Sarah Restoff.
Physics, 1st place, Hayley Winter.
