Roger Allen Davison of Du Quoin

Roger Allen Davison, 85, of Du Quoin, Illinois, passed away at 2:54 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Roger had been a roof bolter for Old Ben #21 Coal Mine and was a member of United Mine Workers of America. He had also been a printer for the Southern Illinoisan newspaper and the Christopher newspaper.

Roger was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion.

Roger was born May 27, 1935 at Du Quoin, the son of Joseph W. and Violet (Mezo) Davison.

He married Betty Ward on Aug. 2, 1958 at Cottleville, Missouri, and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; two sons, Edward Davison of Du Quoin and Daniel Davison of Robinson, Illinois; three daughters, Lisa Davison of Du Quoin, Suzanne Cline of Marion and Michelle Davison of West Frankfort; one brother, Joe Davison of Christopher; one sister, Sharon Brower of Springfield, Illinois; five grandchildren, Christopher Cline of Albertville, Minnesota, Brandy Robinson of Stonefort, Illinois, Ashley Cline of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Matthew Sensenbach of Collinsville, Illinois and Erica Page of Elk Grove Village, Illinois; and three great-grandchildren, Troy Robinson, Trevor Robinson and Hailey Cline.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred Davison.

Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin, with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask and is asked to observe social distancing guidelines.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion, and the United States Marine Corps.
