Barbara Rodewald of Chester
Barbara A. Rodewald, 89, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 3:41 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, Illinois.
She was born to the late Louise Ebert on April 28, 1931 in Chester, Illinois.
Barbara was a homemaker until she started working as a secretary for Crawford Electric and Chester Electric and then for Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation for 30 years.
Barbara was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester. She was also a member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Ladies Sodality. Barbara was a Sunday school teacher and a Christian Youth Organization Leader.
She also enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and helping out on the farm.
She is survived by her three children, Susan Rodewald Darwish of Saudi Arabia, Diane (Jeff) Kerkhover of Chester and Randy Rodewald of Chester; six grandchildren, Miranda Rodewald, Lauren (Micah) Reiman, Austin (Stephanie) Kerkhover, Ahmed (Mona) Darwish, Ramzy (Nour) Darwish and Yasmin (Brett) McCraney; seven great-grandchildren, Lillie, Melanie, Alison, Logan, Zoozer, Mo and Saud, and one great-grandchild due in April.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wimpy & Peggy Johnson and Harold & Mary Howie; three uncles, Frank Ebert, Fred Ebert and Carl (Mabel) Ebert; her aunt Ruth Ebert; and one cousin, Georgerine (Tim) Eckert.
A public graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester, with Danny Miller officiating.
Everyone is asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church or St. Mary's Catholic School.
