66 new COVID-19 cases in Peery County confirmed over weekend

The Perry County Health Department reported out on Monday that 66 new cases of COVID-19 had been laboratory confirmed in the previous 72 hours.

The health department also said there were 295 active cases of coronavirus as of Monday, and that of the total 1,543 cases in Perry County since the pandemic began, there have been 37 deaths and 1,211 patients who recovered and were released from quarantine.

The breakdown of the new 66 cases are:

2 girls under 10

3 boys under 11

2 girls under 18

1 male under 19

3 women and 7 men in their 20s

6 women and 8 men in their 30s

5 women and 5 men in their 40s

6 women and 5 men in their 50s

1 woman and 5 men in her 60s

4 women and one man in their 70s

2 men in their 80s

The Perry County Health Department is currently monitoring this situation along with the Illinois Department of Public Health, both local hospitals in Perry County and local emergency management authorities.

The health department asks that residents protect themselves by staying home as much as possible. Continue social distancing of 6 feet or more, avoid large groups or gatherings of people, wash your hands frequently, and use a cloth face coverings in community settings.
