The COVID-19 crisis: Another 80 Perry County cases confirmed over weekend
Another 80 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were brought to the attention of the Perry County Health Department between Friday and Monday, bringing the total number of current active cases to 217 by Monday afternoon
The additional cases brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Perry County to 798, including 217 active cases, 16 deaths and 565 patients who recovered and have been released from isolation.
Perry County, along with the rest of southern Illinois, remains under Tier 2 mitigation and stricter requirements, as COVID-19 cases continue to climb.
The 80 newest Perry County cases are 2 girls under 15; one girl under 18; one boy under 12; one male under 20; three women and one man in their 20s; six women and eight men in their 30s; five women and four men in their 40s; 11 women and five men in their 50s; seven women and six men in their 60s; four women and two men in their 70s; five women and four men in their 80s; and three women and one man in their 90s.
The Perry County Health Department is currently monitoring this situation along with the Illinois Department of Public Health, both local hospitals in Perry County and local emergency management authorities.
The patients are in isolation and working with the Perry County Health Department.

The health department asks that residents protect themselves and others by staying home as much as possible, continue social distancing of 6 feet or more, avoid large groups or gatherings of people, wash your hands frequently, and use a cloth face coverings in community settings.

<b>Tier 2 highlights</b>
Restaurants and bars: Must close at 11 p.m. and reopen no earlier than 6 a.m.; no indoor dining or bar service; no ordering, seating, or congregating at bar (bar stools should be removed); no standing or congregating indoors/outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting; no dancing or standing indoors.
Meetings, social events, gatherings*: Limit to 10 guests in both indoor and outdoor settings (not applicable to students doing in-person classroom learning, sports or polling places); no party buses; gaming and casinos close at 11 p.m., are limited to 25% capacity, and follow mitigations for bars and restaurants.
Organized group recreational activities: Limit to lesser of 25 guests or 25% of overall room capacity both indoors & outdoors; groups limited to 10 or fewer people; all Sports Guidance effective Aug. 15, 2020, remains in effect; outdoor activities (not included in the above exposure settings) continue per current DCEO guidance.
