Searby cruises to reelection as Perry County State's Attorney
Perry County State's Attorney David H. Searby Jr. cruised to reelection Tuesday night, over Democratic challenger Bubba Harsy.
With all 27 precincts counted, including early votes and mail-in ballots, the Republican Searby had 7,413 unofficial votes, to Harsy's 2,475, or roughly a 75% to 25% margin.
All votes are considered unofficial until they are canvassed in about two weeks.
Searby was first elected in 2016. He had been an assistant state's attorney in Perry County who worked under David N. Stanton, who did not run for reelection that year.
