Red Dot Construction is Chester Business of the Month

Bob and Lindy Schroeder, along with their sons Kurt and Kevin, started the Red Dot construction company in January of 1981. In 1984, they expanded the business and began contracting larger construction jobs.

Red Dot's first big job was building the World Color Press building in Oklahoma.

Kurt took over the business in 1989 and his father, Bob, passed away in 1990. Kurt's children, Bob and Chelsea, have worked part-time for the company throughout the years, and Bob began working full time in 2014.

Over the years, Red Dot has done a variety of different types of construction work, including commercial and industrial buildings, roads, bridges, concrete jobs, sewer and water plant work, demolition, and installing sewer and water mains.

In addition, the company has worked for the Illinois Capital Development Board for jobs at the Menard Correctional Center, the MSU and the Chester Mental Health Center. Red Dot has done projects in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Several of the most notable projects are the Du Quoin State Fairground track renovations, the Grandview Hotel demolition, the Chester Grade School and Chester Library additions, Mary's River Bridge and Covered Bridge renovations, and the Fort de Chartres Wall restoration.

Red Dot will celebrate 40 years in business in January 2021. Congratulations, Red Dot!
