Evansville man dies in one-vehicle crash

Michael Almasy, 48, of Evansville died Oct. 13 after a one-vehicle crash on Route 3, according to the Randolph County sheriff's office.

According to the accident report, Almasy was traveling southbound on Route 3 just south of the intersection with Dew Drop Landing Road just before 11 a.m. when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a curve directional sign. The GMC Sierra then struck a culvert and rotated 90 degrees to the right, slid sideways and rolled onto the driver's side on a slight embankment. The pickup truck then rotated 90 degrees to the right and came to rest in an upright position in the ditch.

Almasy was unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the report. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
