When Perry County Supervisor of Assessments Robin Edwards returned to work Monday following her maternity leave, she did not leave just one child at home, she left two. Edwards gave birth to twins on Aug. 18, a boy and girl, Brandon Neil and Brooke Neil ... Mayor John Rednour announced the sale of the P.R. Mallory building to Prestige Trailers Inc. of Christopher and made a joint announcement with Christopher businessman Sam Wink that the trailer company is coming to Du Quoin ... Helen Apple of Fair Acres celebrated her 80th birthday with family and friends on Friday, Oct. 13 ... Don and Susan Cole of Du Quoin announce the birth of a daughter, Sydney Gehl, born Sept. 17 at Marshall Browning Hospital. Sydney joins two sisters, Wendy Adie-Lena, age 17, and Stephanie Rae, age 15.

A family dinner was enjoyed Sunday in the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Schobert in honor of their son, Bryan, who left today for induction into the armed forces. Attending were Schobert and his wife; Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Schobert; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Schobert; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Schobert; Kim, Kathy and Kevin; Fred Schobert; Mrs. Faye McCormick; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Allabastro; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Allabastro ... Door-to-door contributions from the annual Girl Scout porch light drive held Tuesday night netted $600.16. Along with contributions from local businesses and various civic and other clubs, the grand total collected is $1,198.16.

Percy Smith, 106 S. Mulberry St., arrived home Wednesday night from the Separation Center at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he was given an honorable discharge after 22 months of service in the Army. Smith was a military policeman attached to an engineer's battalion. His wife and family live at the Mulberry residence. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Smith, also reside in Du Quoin ... Technical Sergeant Wayne Bush has received his honorable discharge from the Separation Center at Camp Grant, Illinois, after completing 5½ years of service with the Army. He is the son of Mrs. Helen Bush, and has two brothers, Harry and Eugene, who are in the Navy.

Miss Alvera Phillips, a trained nurse at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Phillips, here for a few days ... Mrs. Mayme Fredericks of Dowell, formerly Miss Mayme Franks of this city, came up this morning and spent a day shopping and visiting relatives ... Miss Alma Reed of Marshall returned home this morning after a visit of several days with Misses Cecil and Grace Elam here ... Miss Mary Keith of Du Quoin was in Pinckneyville Wednesday morning en route to St. Louis, where she has employment. She was accompanied by her aunt, Mrs. A.C. Davis, who will visit her nephew, Claude Sanders and his wife.
