Elise Ann Wasson, formerly of Harrisburg

Elise Ann Wasson, age 63, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Sadie (Brinkley) Wasson. She is survived by her sister, Cynthia L. (Wasson) Holderfield, and her very favorite brother-in-law, Robert Daniel (Dan) Holderfield, aunts and cousins.

Elise was born on Sept. 8, 1957, in Harrisburg.

Elise was a huge St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She loved watching game shows, wrestling, listening to music and working word search puzzles, collecting baseball cards then writing the ball players' names in a notebook (her baseball cards got really dog-eared from her licking her thumb to shuffle through the cards; we couldn't keep her supplied with notebooks and pens). Elise loved to watch sports of any kind. She had an interesting way of choosing the team to cheer for - she always chose the team in the white uniform no matter who it was unless it was a St. Louis team. Most recently, Elise attended Winstanley Baptist Church in Fairview Heights where she loved attending and singing hymns.

There will be a graveside service for Elise at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, preceded by a short time of visitation at 1 p.m. at Reed Funeral Chapel, 503 East Sloan Street, Harrisburg. The funeral procession will leave from Reed Funeral Chapel to head to the cemetery for the graveside service. The Rev. Bob Ward (Elise always called him "Bobby her big brother" and Vernon and Sadie called him "their son in the ministry") will be officiating the graveside service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics. You may go to the Special Olympics website at specialolympics.org for ways to make a donation online, by mail or by phone; also, envelopes will be left at the cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family on her obituary page at wwwreedfuneralchapel.com.
