Rebecca 'Becky' Lynn Barnes of Elkville
Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Barnes, age 32, of Elkville, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at 7:43 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale Emergency Room, Carbondale, IL.
Becky was born on January 31, 1988, in Carbondale, to Nathan L. and Lisa D. (Dirden) Barnes-Atterberry. She was a member of the Elkville Baptist Church. Becky was a graduate of Elverado High School where her two favorite teachers were Jeanie Korando and Tim Linduska.
She loved playing the flute. Becky was the mother of four beautiful boys. Her love was unconditional and she had a great love for God.
Survivors include her parents, Nathan and Lisa Barnes-Atterberry of Elkville, four sons, Zachariah, Jordan, Gabriel and Noah Barnes, all of Elkville, three sisters, Ashley Burgess of Carterville, Rachelle of Elkville, and Hannah Barnes-Atterberry of Elkville, six aunts, Jennifer (Jason) Petersan of Paducah, KY, Billie Clover of Anna, Kathy (Steve) Allen of Marissa, Cindy Moreland of Anna, Laura (Larry) Lang of Jonesboro, and Connie Simmerman of Herrin, one uncle, Lewis "Uncle Bubby" (Michelle) Dirden of Anna, her godfather, John Milani; a very good friend, Zach, her dog, Samson, who brought her great comfort the last few months, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by fiancé, Justin Shain, paternal grandparents, William Barnes and Elizabeth Pinkston, maternal grandparents, Bill and Leta Dirden, an aunt, Delilah Giacomo, and an uncle, Richard Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Scott Slone and Brother Gary Pruitt officiating. Interment will be in Hallidayboro Cemetery, Hallidayboro.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday morning at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19, phase four attendance will be limited to 50 people, social distancing will be enforced and attendees are asked to wear a mask.
