Theresa E. Jeremiah of Du Quoin

Theresa E. Jeremiah, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020 at her residence.

Theresa was a cook at Gold Plate in Du Quoin for several years. She was of the Catholic faith. Theresa was a member of the Du Quoin American Legion Auxiliary and the Du Quoin VFW Auxiliary.

She was born June 28, 1929 at Ava, Illinois, the daughter of Anna Rosenberger.

She married Elmo G. Jeremiah on Dec. 4, 1948 at Mayfield, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 2003.

She is survived by two grandsons, Scott (Kimberly) Loyd and Eric (Amanda) Ramsey, all of Du Quoin; son-in-law Rick Degler of Florida; daughter-in-law Paula Jeremiah of Pinckneyville; two step-granddaughters, Amy Wildermuth and Kelly Reyes, both of Pinckneyville; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Loyd, Emma Loyd, Samantha Ramsey and Brylee Ramsey, all of Du Quoin; and three step-great grandchildren, Kelton Linze, Karlee Reyes and Norah Wildermuth, all of Pinckneyville.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; her daughter, Sandy Degler; and her son, Billy L. Jeremiah.

Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the cemetery.

Phase 4 of Restore Illinois allows up to 50 attendees, using social distancing guidelines. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask.

Friends may make memorials to Gold Plate, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
