Red Bud driver hurt in Tuesday crash
A Red Bud man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after his vehicle crossed the centerline on Route 3, sideswiped a second vehicle, hit an embankment and came to rest in a field, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.
Scott J. Ballard, 30, of Ellis Grove, was taken by MedStar to Red Bud Hospital where his condition is currently unknown. Sheriff's officers say the crash happened at about 6 a.m. and that they suspect Ballard had a medical event that caused him to lose control of the Chevy TrailBlazer and leave the roadway about two miles north of Fountain Lane.
A 50-year-old man from Waterloo was driving the second vehicle and was apparently not injured, sheriff's police indicate on the report.
Ballard was cited with driving an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage.
