Randolph County brush fire

The Chester Fire Department got a brush fire under control Monday evening on the hillside behind the Landmark by the city steps. The cause of the fire is unknown, and it got under control with no injuries or major damage to the surroundings. Fire Chief Marty Bert said that with such dry conditions there may be other such incidents if citizens are not careful with outdoor flame sources such as cigarettes.
