CHS boys golf Jackets are 20-5 after latest week of competition
The Chester High School boys golf team improved to 20-5 after week No. 4 of competition, following two matches last week.
The team won the match at the Chester Country Club and finished fourth at the very competitive 2020 Nashville Invitational Tournament.
The Jackets began the week on Sept. 8, picking up two wins at the Chester Country Club against Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School from Centralia and Sparta High School.
Senior leader Jarrett James earned his sixth medalist honor for the season firing a nine-hole round of 34, for two under par.
Gage Hasemeyer set a new personal best record with his round of 42, six strokes over par. Kaden Freytag had a good day shooting 38 and Jaden Mott turned a score card of 39.
Chance Mott shot 42 (+6) and Luke Miller shot 46 (+10) to give the Yellow Jackets a team score of 153.
On to Nashville
On Sept. 10 the Jackets traveled to Nashville to compete against Nashville, Breese Mater Dei, Central High School, Gibault Catholic, Okawville, Sparta and Wesclin.
The boys from Chester finished fourth overall, led by Jarett James who shot a 41 (5 over par). Just three strokes behind him was Kaden Freytag who shot 44 (+8) and Jaden Mott with a 45 (+9).
Luke Miller shot a 50, Chance Mott had 52 and Clayton Andrews had 53.
Low medalist and winner of the 2020 Nashville Invitational Tournament was Ryan Kruse of Gibault who shot 36 and won it all with a playoff hole.
With the fourth place finish, the Chester Yellow Jackets improved to 20-5 for the season.
