Wanda Louise Chapman, formerly of Carrier Mills
Wanda Louise Chapman, 76, of Alton and formerly of Carrier Mills, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020 at St. Anthony's Medical Center in Alton.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 at Lakeview Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 9 a.m. at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Mary Day will officiate.
Wanda was born on April 2, 1944 in Carrier Mills to the late William Maloy and Evangelene (Foreman) Cowper.
She married Cager L. Chapman Sr. and he preceded in death on Feb. 27, 2011.
She was a retired schoolteacher and also worked at a state hospital for many years. She loved to cook, write poems and trace genealogy as well as she liked to learn.
She is survived by her daughter, Imee (Roger) Barfield of Godfrey; three stepchildren, Cager (Teresa) Chapman Jr. of West Memphis, Arkansas, Michelle Chapman of Alton and Carol Sanders of Tupelo, Mississippi; three sisters, Margaret Covington of Alton and Mary Maggaline Day and Lisa (Chet) Kuro, both of Carrier Mills; brother, Robert Cowper of Carrier Mills; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, William Charles Cowper and Clifford Cowper; and sister, Sonya Marie Cowper.
