Carolyn Sue Doerflein of Pinckneyville

Carolyn Sue Doerflein, 70, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 21, 2020 at her home.

Sue worked as a machine operator at MCA Records in Pinckneyville for 14 years. Later, she worked at Nascote in Nashville, Illinois, and most recently she was an in-home health care provider.

Sue was a huge animal lover who was known for her very exotic pets. Her favorites were her Canadian Lynxes named Simba and Nala. She was a generous person, always helping others.

Sue was born on Aug. 8, 1950 in Chicago, the daughter of Charlie and Ruth (Lankford) Seiber. She married David Doerflein on June 19, 1965 in Chicago.

She is survived by her husband, David Doerflein of Pinckneyville; three daughters, Lora Howard of Iowa, Vicki (James) Hoskin of Chester, and Christine (Cris) Villanueva of North Carolina; three sisters, Joanne Sieber of Chicago, Katherine Karmolnski of Logansport, Indiana and Liz Swedrock of Chicago; three brothers, Charles (Theresa) Seiber of Moline, David Seiber of Chicago and Larry Seiber of Chicago; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Michael David Doerflein, James Edward Doerflein and Gale Allen Doerflein; her mother, Ruth, and her father, Charlie; two sisters, Peggy Hulsart of Chicago and Pat Wolfe of Chicago; one brother, James Seiber of Chicago; and one granddaughter, Dakota Howard.

Per Sue's request, cremation rites were accorded. There will be no public visitation or funeral service.

Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
