Coroner: Waiting for labs to finalize cause of brothers' deaths

Perry County Coroner Paul Searby said Thursday he will not rule on a cause of death for two Du Quoin brothers until he has received toxicology reports.

The coroner's office and the Du Quoin Police Department are among the agencies investigating the deaths of twin brothers, Jeremy W. Sizemore and Jarrod W. Sizemore, 41, who were found inside a vehicle in the Du Quoin Walmart parking lot early Sunday morning.

"This is a pending investigation so I will release no information," Searby said. "We don't speculate on anything until we have all the data."

He said toxicology reports usually take around 2½ weeks to get.

Du Quoin Police Chief Steve Ingram confirmed Thursday that the investigation is continuing.

Because of that, he would not release any details of what the investigation has determined.

"We'll work with the coroner to establish cause of death," Ingram said.

Searby said autopsies on the two men were done on Tuesday. The bodies have been released for funeral services, which will be held Friday morning (Aug. 28) at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Kent Eaton officiating. Friends may call between 9 and 10 a.m. Phase 4 of Restore Illinois allows up to 50 attendees in one place, with all attendees practicing social distancing and wearing masks.

The investigation has been conducted by the Du Quoin Police Department, Perry County Sheriff's Office, Perry County Coroner's Office, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators, and the Perry County Ambulance Service.
