Sick leave bank ordinance drawn up
An ordinance creating a sick leave bank for city of Du Quoin employees has been drawn up and is now on public display at city hall. The city council is expected to approve it on June 22.
Employees can donate unused sick time to the bank, that can then be used by other employees who run out of sick leave.
The bank was a negotiated item in the latest police contract ratified about two years ago but it wasn't acted upon until recently. Now, however, the bank is being established for all city employees, not just police.
A five-person committee has been appointed to rule on requests. members are City Clerk Ruth Hale, Josh Cushman, Shannon Jones, Jordan Crain and Chuck Novak
