Max Mondal Brown of Carbondale

It is with great sadness that the family of Max Mondal Brown announces he left his earthly home in the arms of his wife to go home and be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 17, 2020, at the age of 48.

Max graduated Egyptian High School and was a member of the championship basketball team in 1989. Max joined the Marine Corps after graduation. He was a skilled tradesman with certifications in welding, plumbing and truck driving. He was a member of Iron Worker No. 46 and attended Illinois Laborers' and Contractors Program in Mt. Sterling. He has many friends and never met a stranger and will be missed by so many. Max had a work ethic that was beyond words.

Max was a wonderful provider to his family. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Max will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Stephanie Brown; his mother, Barbara Brown; sisters Carla and Melissa Brown, Terri Pillow and Marsha Williams; his brothers, Ivery Williams, Jeff Pillow, and Andrea, David and Corey Williams; his daughter, Alexus; his sons, Trey, Martavius, Kaleb and Mason Brown; stepchildren Ashley Allen, Brianna Stewart and Loryn Van Hoos; three grandchildren; sister-in-law Stacey (Ray) Moss; father and mother-in-law George and Brenda Calvert; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; a lifelong best friend, Paul Pillow; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Inez Brown; grandfather Jesse Vale Baker; a brother, Dennis Williams; an uncle, DeWayne Brown; and an aunt, Lucille Brown.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau with Pastor Christopher Swims officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.
