Du Quoin schools change Grab & Go schedule
Effective Monday, April 20, the Du Quoin schools will change their schedule for curbside pickup of the Grab & Go bags, the cold breakfasts and lunches that the district has offered since school was canceled on March 17.
The district will serve three days a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday - but the bagged meals on Monday and Wednesday will include enough food to cover two days each. The hours remain 10 a.m. to noon.
Up to the end of this week, the district was offering meal pickup five days a week, but Cory Robbins, the District 300 business manager, said they are changing the schedule to reduce the number of interactions between people.
"A three day service schedule will reduce both the cafeteria staff's interactions and the recipients' dramatically," Robbins said in an email.
The Grab & Go bags are intended for children ages 0-18. They will continue to be handed out at four locations:
Du Quoin High School, 500 E. South St.
Du Quoin Elementary School, 845 E. Jackson St.
Ward School, 200 N. Division St., Du Quoin
AME Zion Church, 101 N. Maple St., Du Quoin.
Robbins added that no one affiliated with District 300 has tested positive for COVID-19.
