Chester students get next round of remote learning material
Chester Grade School has moved to the next phase of providing remote learning for students.
For the first two weeks of the stay-at-home order, students were working at home with handout packets provided on the last day of attendance, March 16. Some teachers stayed in touch with Facebook activities and some were able to provide services with computers.
On April 2, however, District #139 moved to another phase. At CGS teachers manned three different stations (K-2, 3-5 and 6-8) at which students turned in completed work and picked up other activity packets.
Teachers worked at the stations for two-hour shifts. Parents and students could stop at a station to handle business, but were required to stay in their vehicles.
Teachers have also started using computer lessons on Google Classroom for students with access to computers.
The plans are to conduct these station-school-visits every other week on Mondays to exchange learning packets and answer questions. The next event is scheduled for Monday, April 13. Of course, the process is still evolving and may change at any time.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker has ordered all schools closed until the end of the month.
