Du Quoin Garden Club annual Plant Sale canceled for 2020
After much consideration, the Du Quoin Garden Club announces that the 54th annual Plant Sale for 2020 has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the "stay-at-home" order having been extended to April 30.
While the plant sale is the only fundraising project for year, the club feels this decision is best for its members and the community during this time.
Despite the pandemic, the Du Quoin Garden Club will do its best to clean, plant and maintain the community gardens at the Highway 51 South welcome sign, the Mini Park/Gazebo on Main Street, Keyes City Park and Hosta garden, the planters at the Du Quoin Post Office and the Blue Star Memorial Marker inside the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
For members out working, the protocol stands: There must be social distancing of at least six feet among workers; no more than three members to a group; no carpooling - each member will drive their own vehicle to and from the work site; no sharing of garden tools; and gloves must be worn.
The club wants to continue helping to make our community an attractive place to live and to keep the community gardens colorful and pleasing to the eye - as long as no one is at risk during this time of crisis.
