Edgar Lee (Eddie) Dillard of Carrier Mills

Edgar Lee (Eddie) Dillard, age 90, a resident of Carrier Mills, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 at his home.

Eddie, as he was known, was born in Eldorado on Jan. 12, 1930 to the late Edgar M. and Verna Watson Dillard. He married Wilma Thompson on Nov. 27, 1949. He and Wilma were blessed with more than 70 years of marriage.

Eddie loved the Lord and loved to spread the gospel with others. He was a member of the First Church of God in Carrier Mills, where he served faithfully until his health limited his attendance. Eddie was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Wilma; two sons, Greg (Vickie) Dillard of Carrier Mills and Jeff (Cindy) Dillard of Stonefort; two daughters, Cindy (Darryl) Allen of Harrisburg and Beth (Charles) Walter of Mount Vernon, Indiana; six grandchildren, April and Ryan Craig, Gary and Beth Dillard of Stonefort, Aaron and Paula Allen, Doug and Carolyn Allen, Emily and Tom Speca, and Laura Walter and Andre Kuhlenschmidt; and nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rylee and Addy Allen, Madalyn, Grayson, and Sarah Dillard, Ellison and Emmett Craig and Audrey Speca.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held Sunday, March 1, in the First Church of God in Carrier Mills. The Revs. Joe Daniels and Shannon Goolsby will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral time on Sunday at the church.

The family has asked that memorials should be directed to the Carrier Mills First Church of God in lieu of flowers.

Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of the services.
