Joseph Michael Girot of Galatia

Joseph Michael Girot, 44, of Galatia, passed away at his home on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019.

He was born in Harrisburg on Dec. 18, 1974 to parents Michael (Mike) Girot and Nancy (Cotton) Wilson.

He lived in Galatia his whole life, attending Galatia schools and graduating in 1993 at the top of his class. He attended Southeastern Illinois College, then University of Illinois, and completed his college education at Southern Illinois University with a degree in agriculture. He raised and showed cattle and farmed for the majority of his life.

He was a lifelong member of Long Branch Baptist Church, where he was saved and baptized at age 9.

He married Bebe (Clifton) Girot on Aug. 15, 2008, and they have a son together, Joseph Andrew (Andy).

Joseph is survived by his parents, his wife and son, two sisters, Julie and Jill, and niece, Jaci Jo Wood.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Sloan Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Durham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
