James David 'J.D.' Holland of Metropolis

James David "J.D." Holland, 84, of Metropolis, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.

Memorial services with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with the Rev. Shalom Renner and the Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating.

J.D. was retired from Westlake, formerly known as B.F. Goodrich, and was a farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis, where he was active in the United Methodist Men, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean conflict.

J.D. is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine "Geri" Holland; children, Kim Thomas and husband Richard, Melanie Morse and husband Jamie, Jeff Holland and wife Rayette, and Jon Holland and wife Amy; grandchildren, Justin Holt and wife Andrea, Jacob Thomas, Jared Holland and wife Emily, Jayson Holland and wife Wrenna, Nick Holland and wife Meredith, Lindsay Thomas, and Noah Holland; great-grandchildren, Ava Holt, Jonny Holland, Elliott Dunevant, Mia Holt, Grayson Holland, Easton Varvel, Makenna Holland, Tyler Holt, Josiah Holland, Maverick Holland, and one on the way; brother, Philip E. Holland and wife Karleen; one niece and several nephews.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Blanche (Thackston) Holland.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Weekend Blessings, c/o First United Methodist Church, 100 E. 5th St., Metropolis, Illinois 62960
