Sue Ellen Klindworth of Chester
Sue Ellen Klindworth, 88, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 7:08 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester.
She was born to the late Robert M. and Mabel M. (nee Brown) Clendenin on July 25, 1931 in Rockwood, Illinois.
Sue was a secretary at Chester High School for 18 years and worked at Menard Correctional Center for eight years.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Chester Booster Club. She volunteered for Hospice of Southern Illinois. Sue was also an active Card Club Member. She was an avid sports fan of the Chester Yellow Jackets and St. Louis Cardinals.
Sue is survived by her four children, Debra Uchtman of Steeleville, Jenelle (Pat) Knowles of Chester, Pamela Klindworth of St. Louis and Brett (Karla) Klindworth of Chester; two sisters, Mary Ann Bunselmeyer of Steeleville and Bernice Cowan of Chester; three sisters-in-law, Melba Clendenin of Rockwood, Donna Clendenin and Mildred Gregory, both of Chester; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, James, Allen Carter, Leonard, Roger and Ted; a sister, Kathryn McClurken and a grandson, Aaron Straight.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, with the Rev. Justin Massey officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, and again prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester.
Memorials in Sue's name are suggested to the St. John Radio Fund, St. John Lutheran School or Ebenezer Cemetery.
