Edward Overos of Elkville

ELKVILLE - Edward J. Overos, 87, of Elkville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at his residence.

Ed was a supervisor at an aerospace plater. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and the Royal Anglers Sunday school Class. Ed enjoyed woodworking and helping people.

He was born July 21, 1932 in Pierpont, South Dakota, the son of Knut and Gudrun (Meringdal) Overos.

He married Jetta Rae Hargett on May 17, 1980 in Los Angeles, and she survives.

He is survived by his wife, of Elkville; his blended family of four children, 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one child, and nine siblings.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
