Beulah Almira McLaughlin of Murphysboro
Beulah Almira McLaughlin 93, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Beulah was born on Feb. 2, 1926, to William and Zelma (Sweet) Fox, in Elkville. She married the Rev. Fred McLaughlin on July 30, 1945 in San Rafael, California; he preceded her in death on June 3, 1998.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of Pate Chapel Church in Murphysboro. She was involved in 4-H, where she coached the girls softball team, and played in her youth.
Beulah was an avid sports fan and bowler, she bowled on the same league for 20 years. She loved to go to her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, so much so that she never missed a game. Beulah also loved to farm and drive her tractor, and anytime she drove she was sure to let everybody know about it. She worked as a receptionist for the Esposito/Rodriguez Clinic in Murphysboro for 20 years.
Beulah is survived by one son, Darryl McLaughlin of Murphysboro; granddaughter Erica (Mitch) Murphy of Murphysboro; three great-grandchildren, Augustus Murphy, Liam Murphy and Elliot Murphy, all of Murphysboro; two brothers, Dossie Fox of Carbondale and William Fox of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews who lived with her when they were young.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Curtis McLaughlin; and several brothers and sisters.
The family has asked that memorials be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at Pate Chapel Church, with the Rev. Jim Easton officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the church.
Her body will be laid to rest at Murdale Gardens of Memory.
