Carol Kay Hull, formerly of Pinckneyville and Du Quoin

Carol Kay Hull, age 79, of Chesterfield, Missouri and formerly of Pinckneyville and Du Quoin, passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019 in her home, after a lengthy illness due to cancer.

Carol was born on Sept. 25, 1939 in Bloomingdale, Indiana, a daughter of John Murray and Maxine (Teeter) Evans. She married Glendel "Glen" Ray Hull on March 20, 1960 in Bloomingdale, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2016 after 55 years of marriage.

Carol attended Indiana State University, in Terre Haute, and earned her Associate Degree. After moving to Illinois, in addition to being a full-time mother, she worked as a payroll specialist for Consolidated Coal Company and later worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Carol was loved by many and was often described as a very sweet woman with a mild demeanor. She enjoyed playing the piano, especially for the children at her church, and was an avid watcher of the Hallmark Channel. Carol was a member of the Republican Women's Committee, Junior Women's Club and First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville.

Survivors include her two sons, Dr. Steven (Pam) Hull, M.D. of Lake Quivira, Kansas and Gary (Christine) Hull of Tarpon Springs, Florida; her daughter, Tonya Hull of St. Charles, Missouri; two grandchildren, Hayden Hull and Katherine Hull, both of Leawood, Kansas; two sisters, Judy (Dr. David) Eichenauer of West Lafayette, Indiana and Jane (Vince) Poisella of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was especially close to her lifelong friend, Karen White of Rockville, Indiana, and her friend and neighbor, Marlene Kellerman of Du Quoin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Glen.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Du Quoin.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pyatt Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
