Thomas Elder 'Red' Davis of Eldorado
Thomas Elder "Red" Davis, 88, of Eldorado passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at the VA Center in Marion.
He was born Dec. 8, 1930 in Eldorado, the son of the late Benjamin and Merle (Elder) Davis.
Red married the former Margaret Ellen Cantrell in Little Rock, Arkansas and Margaret preceded him in death on May 11, 2009.
In 1962, Red started his heating and air conditioning business at the Gallatin County Tin Shop in Ridgway. He was part owner in Eldorado Automotive for 30 years and also farmed.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Wasson Baptist Church.
Red is survived by his three sons, Ronnie Davis of Eldorado, Donnie (Jo Ellen) Davis of Omaha, and Bill Davis of Norris City; four grandchildren, Donnie Davis Jr., Joseph Davis, Elizabeth Davis and Josh Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Jaidyn and Mark Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Tommy Davis Jr.; two brothers and seven sisters.
Visitation for Red will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the funeral home with the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Creek Cemetery near Eldorado, with military rites by the Eldorado VFW and Army Military Honors Team.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wolf Creek Cemetery.
