Michael William Grounds of Harrisburg

Michael William Grounds, age 61, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Mike was born on Dec. 3, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late William Ira and Loretta (Grimes) Grounds.

He married Kim Baer on March 13, 1982, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2016.

Mike was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt, fish, garden and play the drums. He loved his kids and grandkids. Mike was a proud paramedic, and talented carpenter and painter. He was a staunch Republican.

Mike is survived by three children, son Brian Jump of Owensboro, Kentucky, daughter Dustan Smith (Andrew Havener) of Rockport, Indiana and daughter, Tristyn Grounds (Brock Bertling) of Carbondale; nine grandchildren, Dezerae Smith of Tell City, Indiana, Addyson Cockrum of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Keylee Smith of Rockport, Cooper Givens of Ridgway, Kale Smith of Rockport, Jacob Jump of Owensboro, Cameron Castros of Carbondale, Ella Fowler of Benton and Ansen Havener of Rockport; a brother, Alan Grounds of Harrisburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kim, and a daughter, Michaella Grounds.

Graveside memorial services for Michael William Grounds will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 2, 2019 at Sunset Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Lucas will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Reed Funeral Chapel to help offset burial expenses.
