Jerrold 'Jerry' W. Kovach of Harrisburg
Jerrold W. Kovach, age 70, of Harrisburg, passed away at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Evelyn's House in Creve Coeur, Missouri, surrounded by his family.
Jerrold was born on June 1, 1949, in Harrisburg, to the late Orville and Pauline (Carneghi) Kovach.
On Aug. 7, 1971 he married Diane Geltosky and she survives in Harrisburg.
Jerrold was a teacher with the Williamson County Special Education District and taught for more than 32 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Harrisburg. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Gallatin-Saline County Retired Teachers and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Jerrold was an avid golfer, traveler and Civil War enthusiast. He loved to paint, draw, attend his children's sporting events and follow the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed teaching his children new things. Jerrold was creative and extremely organized and had the "mind of an engineer," creating blueprints for ideas and projects. He was devoted to his religion and his church. Jerrold also loved to make homemade ravioli and he passed that skill down to his daughter, Angela.
In addition to his wife, Diane, Jerrold is survived by two children; son, Christopher Kovach of Harrisburg and daughter, Angela Kovach (fiancé Andrew Liles) of Clarksville, Tennessee; granddog Kaydee; nieces and nephews, David Molinarolo of Harrisburg; Amy (Mike) Severson of Nashville, Tennessee and Jennifer Wooter of Massachusetts; great-niece, Reed Severson of Nashville, Tennessee; and brother-in-law, Paul Molinarolo of Harrisburg.
In addition to his parents, Jerrold was preceded in death by his sister, Dawn Kovach and his sister-in-law, Janet Molinarolo.
A funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Harrisburg. Father Steven Beatty will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
Memorial contributions in honor of Jerrold may be made to the ALS Association in honor of Angela's future mother-in-law, Susie Burchett, and left at www.shineforsusie.org; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
