William Kenneth Everett of Harrisburg
William Kenneth Everett, age 75, of Harrisburg, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at his residence in Harrisburg.
Kenneth was born on Dec. 4, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia to the late William Henry and Martha (Killingsworth) Everett. He married Myrna Smiddy on Dec. 26, 1979 and she survives.
Kenneth served his country and was a pitcher for the U.S. Army baseball team during the Vietnam War. He also pitched for SIU's baseball team.
Kenneth was a high school teacher. He taught high school classes as well as special education classes. During his career, he taught in Tovey, Marion and Carlyle.
Kenneth loved tennis; he gave private lessons at the park in Harrisburg. He also loved baseball and spreading God's Word. He was a preacher and his favorite song was "The Anchor Holds."
Those who knew him used these words to describe him - humble, inspirational, generous, gracious and smart. He exuded a special type of kindness and love like no one else.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Myrna of Harrisburg; daughter Gina Foster and husband Craig of Beckemeyer; son, Kevin Bernardini and wife Katheryn, of Tucson, Arizona; son, Randy Banovz and wife Billie of McLeansboro; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Roger Everett and wife Chris of Taylorville; sister Lesley Vera Alba of London, England; and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lynne Ibeck.
Kenneth will be cremated and there will be a memorial service at a later date.
