Virginia L. Holland of Du Quoin
Virginia L. Holland, 87, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale surrounded by her family.
Virginia worked in the medical records department at Marshall Browning Hospital and also at the Du Quoin Medical Group in the insurance claims department.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. Virginia was also a member of the DAR Beaucoup Chapter.
Virginia was born May 16, 1932 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Joseph H. and Ruby (Metzinger) Moye.
She married Harold D. Holland on June 27, 1953 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 2014.
She is survived by one daughter, Lee (James) Swayze of Carbondale; one granddaughter, Kallie (Angel) Velazquez of Belleville, Illinois; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Dominik and Charlotte, all of Belleville; a sister, Karen (David) House of Du Quoin; and two nephews, Travis House of Carbondale and Trent House of Baltimore, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the Searby Funeral Home. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society, Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life, or the Du Quoin Food Pantry, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
