Delbert R. Stirnaman of Chester

Delbert R. Stirnaman, 83, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 3:40 a.m., on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

He was born to the late Nevlin and Irene (nee McFaddin) Stirnaman on July 17, 1935 in Chester.

Delbert married Marcella Davitz on April 26, 1958; she preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1999.

He worked for Con Agra Mill for more than 30 years.

Delbert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. He was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus #3790 and the Eagles Club Aerie #3252. Delbert was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was an Army veteran.

Survivors include two children, Lisa (James) Wittenborn of Chester and Linda (Bill) Lynn, also of Chester; one brother, Jimmie (Sharon) Stirnaman of Bolivar, Missouri; four grandchildren, Erica (Kent) Brookman, Shelly (Brett) Mueller, Heather (Jason) Korando and Billy (Katie) Lynn; eight great-grandchildren, Nolan Brookman, Maegan Brookman, Gage Lynn, Taylor Korando, McKenzie Korando, Mylee Mueller, Kynleigh Lynn and Alex Mueller.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis Grove, with the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F. officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Ellis Grove.

The family would appreciate memorials be directed to St. Mary's Catholic School in Chester and the Chester Public Library.
