Thomas T. Rodd, formerly of Marion

Thomas T. Rodd, of Schererville, Indiana and formerly of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the age of 90.

In those years, Tom saw a lot of life, from his stint as a soda jerk to serving as President of IUOE Local 150, to his ultimate farm-boy role, enjoying gardening and fishing on his 40 acres in later life.

Tom served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, and traveled extensively in his youth, living in New York City, Long Beach and Chicago, among many other cities. He loved music, motorcycles, and fast driving.

But he had a lifelong love affair with Mother's fried peach pies (or any of her pies, for that matter), the Chicago Cubs (and lived to see them win the World Series), Pixies, and, most of all - the love of his life - Mildred ("look at those eyes, Mother") Miller, his bride of 70 years.

Tom is survived by his beautiful bride, Mildred; children, Karen (Bill Macleod) Rodd, Brenda (John) Callahan, Janice (Steve) Jowers, and Glenn (Karen) Rodd; five amazing grandchildren, Bradley, Nathan, Spencer, Krysta and Kyle; and three too-cute-for-words great-grandsons, John Michael, Elijah Rodd and Calvin James.

A time of sharing will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Indiana. Military will being at 3 p.m.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
