Michael R. 'Mickey' Gross of Ellis Grove

Michael R. "Mickey" Gross, 67, of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 9:17 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at his residence.

He was born to the late Thomas and Ruth (nee Runge) Gross on Feb. 9, 1952 in Red Bud, Illinois. He married Jo Ann Bohnert on May 11, 1974 in Perryville, Missouri, and she survives.

Mickey was a conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad for more than 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellis Grove.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Gross of Ellis Grove; two children, Jack (Kimberly) Gross of Chester and Tracy Tubbs (Alan Kueker) of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois; three brothers, Robert Gross of Houston, Texas, Kurtis (Vicki) Gross of Sparta, Illinois and Dale (Dorothy) Gross of Waterloo, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jessica Gross, Kierra Gross, Jasmine Tubbs and Ayden Gross; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

It was Mickey's wish to donate his body to science. Pechacek Funeral Homes, of Chester, is assisting the family with arrangements.
