Gregory S. McLean of Chester
Gregory S. McLean, 66, of Chester, passed away at 6:43 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 at Southeast Hospital, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born to the late Leo and Jeanne (nee Parker) McLean on May 5, 1952 in Perryville, Missouri. Greg married Charlyn Mudd on Aug. 7, 1982 at Buffalo Acres in Rockwood, Illinois; she survives. He worked in the highway maintenance department of the Illinois Department of Transportation for 25 years.
Greg was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #3553 and the American Legion Post #487. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #1764, and was a 3rd Degree Knight at Knights of Columbus #3790.
Greg loved the outdoors and also coached flag football for the Steelers.
He is survived by his wife, Charlyn McLean of Chester; his mother, Jeanne Eastridge of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Charnelle (Gary) Lilley of Chester; one brother, Mark (Maggie) McLean of Rockwood; three grandchildren, Richard Scott Lamar McLean, Williams Austin Michael McLean and Dustin James Leo Lilley; two great-grandchildren, Xzavier McLean and Sanji McLean; three nieces, Ashley Yardley, Amy McLean and Ashly Siegfried; and one great-nephew and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo McLean; grandparents Carl and Jessie Parker; and one brother, Mike McLean.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, with the Rev. Cecil Dunning officiating. Interment will follow at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 and before the service from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
