Gerald Patrick 'Pat' Mulholland of Chester

Gerald Patrick "Pat" Mulholland, 62, of Chester, passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at his residence.

He was born to the late John E. and June M. (nee Butler) Mulholland Jr. on Dec. 18, 1956.

Pat graduated from St. Mary's School in 1971 and Chester High School in 1975. In both grade school and high school Pat played many sports; a highlight of his high school career was playing on the 1975 Regional Championship Basketball Team.

Pat attended the University of Illinois in Champaign and worked for an engineering firm there after college. In 1979, he returned home to work with his father at John E. Mulholland, P.E. Consulting Engineer and Land Surveyor. In 1997, Pat received his Professional Land Surveyor's License. In 2008 and upon his dad's retirement, Pat became the sole owner of the business G. Patrick Mulholland, PLS Illinois Professional Land Surveyor. He retired in 2016.

Pat spent more than 30 years volunteering his time to the Popeye Road Race and was the director of the 10K and 5K for several years. He also volunteered to assist the Chester High School track teams, and worked with the Chester Running Club, and on the Bike Path Grant.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and a loyal Cardinals fan. Pat loved his family and cherished family holidays.

Pat was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. For many years, Pat was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #3790 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert Michael "Mike" (Cheryl) Mulholland of French Village, Missouri and John Terrance "Terry" Mulholland of Hope, Arkansas; two sisters, Judith "Judy" (Dan) Mulholland Griffin of Columbia, Illinois and Barbara Ann "Barb" (Brady) Mulholland-Younge of Festus, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.

The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, officiated by the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service, from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester.

The family is requesting memorials go to the Chester Running Club, or to the family for a scholarship fund for student athletes that is being set up in Pat's memory.
