Catherine 'Cathy' Perko of Tamaroa
TAMAROA - Catherine "Cathy" Perko, 73, of Tamaroa, passed away at 6:14 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Cathy was born on Feb. 19, 1945 in Midlothian, daughter to George and Pauline (Lerner) Doyle. On Dec. 26, 1964, she married David Richard Perko in Midlothian and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2009 after 44 years of marriage. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa, and had worked as a secretary for the Carpenters Union #638, in Marion.
Cathy's greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Antoinette) Perko of Pensacola, Florida; her daughter, Karen (Randy) Bower of Ava; two brothers, George (Pat) Doyle of Dayton, Ohio and Richard (Sharon) Doyle of Parker, Colorado; a sister, Pamela Doyle of Stamford, Connecticut; nine grandchildren, Marie Gomez, Julie Chrusch, Ashley Walker, Lucy Perko, Brittanny Casole, Jean Espedal, Cassie Ortiz, Lori Perko and Kimberly Perko; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a grandson, Gregory Perko.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Father Joseph Oganda officiating. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Tamaroa.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home in Du Quoin from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 and from 9-9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at the church at 9:30 a.m.
