Minnie Keturah 'Kate' Betz of Carrier Mills

Minnie Keturah "Kate" Betz, age 93 and a resident of Carrier Mills, passed away at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on July 26, 1925 in Carrier Mills, daughter of the late Thomas Thompson and Gertie Bybee Thompson.

Kate married Charles Betz Jr. on Nov. 9, 1952 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2015.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills where she served as the church secretary for many years. She retired from the Illinois Department of Human Services in Saline County.

Survivors include her brothers-in law, David (Brenda) Betz of Stonefort and Gene Clayton of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law, Martha Betz of Eldorado; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Ryan Beck officiating.

Burial will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to the time of service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials to the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills in Kate's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
