Wilma May McCloud of Chester

Wilma May McCloud, 89, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:17 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at Red Bud Regional Care Center, in Red Bud, Illinois.

She was born to the late Carl Leo and Bertha Mae (nee Moore) Kessel on Aug. 25, 1929 in Percy, Illinois.

Wilma married Paul "Sam" McCloud on Jan. 22, 1949 in Chester; he preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1998. She worked alongside her husband in the meat department at Nordmeyer's Store in Chester.

Wilma was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Chester. She enjoyed going for walks, reading books and swimming.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Alan) Congiardo of Chester; her sister, Minnie Hartenberger of Red Bud; three grandsons, Brian (Jodi) Congiardo, Christopher (Jessica) Congiardo and Nicholas (Tiffany) Congiardo; six great-grandchildren, Elseah, Eli, Dax, Amelia, Luka and Conrad Congiardo; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Judith Mae McCloud; and four siblings, Vernon Kessel, Ezra Kessel, Margaret Sweetwood and a brother who died in infancy.

The funeral service for Wilma May McCloud will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester. Interment will follow at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, Illinois.

Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 and from 7:30-10 a.m. Friday, at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.

The family is requesting memorials be made to St. Mary's Catholic School in Chester.
