B. Carl Tiller of Chester

B. Carl Tiller, 91, of Chester, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Saint Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born to the late Benjamin R. and Lydia (nee Watkins) Tiller on Feb. 6, 1927 in Calvin, Oklahoma. He married Barbara Carnahan on November 21, 1951 in Chester, Illinois; she preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2016.

Carl had worked as a training officer at Menard Correctional Center in Chester.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #487 and the Masonic Lodge #72. He was also a member of the United States Constabulary. Carl enjoyed bowling and loved to take pictures and videos.

Survivors include three daughters, Julie (Tim) McKinney of Stillwater, OK., Kristy (Tom) Burger of Perryville, Mo., and Melissa (Ray) Kramer of Herrin; six siblings, Ruth (Ralph) Johnson of Chester, Hershel Warren (Sarah) Tiller of Florida, Charles Harold (Ruth) Tiller of Steeleville, Bobby (Elizabeth) Tiller of Greenwood, La., Joni (Roy) Davis of Kansas City, Mo., and Bonnie Davis (the late Albert) of Garden City, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Eric (Lexie) McKinney, Jaala (Justin) Wallin, Ashley (Ray) Furgason, Madelyn (Miller) Eaton, Nolan Kramer, Scott Burger, Chris Burger and Jeff (Jodi) Burger; 12 great grandchildren: Jordan, Taylor, Cale, Austin, Crew, Laine, Jadyn, Jackson, Avery, Lucy, Josh and Jake; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one grandson, Alex Nordmeyer; two brothers, Loyd Tiller and Archie Tiller; and one sister, Ethel Duncan.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 at Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Chester.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester.
