Rhea Carole Bosecker of Harrisburg
Rhea Carole (Seals) Bosecker, 80, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday morning in St. Louis. She was born March 1, 1938 in Belmont, Illinois.
Mrs. Bosecker was raised in the Lick Prairie Community near Mt. Carmel, where she graduated from high school. She married Richard Bosecker on Aug. 4, 1957.
Mrs. Bosecker graduated from Southeastern Illinois College and Southern Illinois University with a master's degree in education. She taught at McKinley and West Side schools for 20 years before retiring.
She was an avid antique collector and upon retirement, her hobby became a part-time business. She and her husband have been active members at First Christian Church since 1968, where they both have served in various capacities over the years. She was also involved in Home Extension, the Retired Teachers Association, and College Club.
Mrs. Bosecker is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard Bosecker of Harrisburg; sons Tim (Lori) Bosecker of Round Rock, Texas and Tony (Cheryl) Bosecker of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren (Bosecker) and Jack Dunaway of McGregor, Texas, Trey Bosecker of San Diego, and Brandon (Kristin) Bosecker of Arlington, Texas; and two great-granddaughters, Liberty and Finley Dunaway of McGregor, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers Don (Billie) Seals of Paris, Illinois and Paul (Candy) Seals of Olney.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Leonard and Zelma Seals; brothers Bernard Seals and Bill Seals; and sisters Mary Ellen Wilson, Gail Hofmeister and Jan Hergert.
A celebration of life for Rhea Carole (Seals) Bosecker will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, officiated by the Rev. Biff Moore.
Visitation will be held prior to services from 12:30 to 2 p.m., and burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
