Patricia 'Pat' Sheley of Pinckneyville
Patricia "Pat" Sheley, 85, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, in her home with her family by her side.
Pat was born on Feb. 1, 1933 in Pinckneyville, daughter of Stephen Ross "Steve" and Valeria (Braun) Reel. She married John A. Sheley on June 17, 1950 in Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2008.
Pat was a retired teacher; she worked at Pinckneyville Community High School and Tilden Elementary School.
She was an avid bridge player, who also loved to travel, eat out, and spend time with her family and friends.
She loved animals, especially her pets, and was a devoted volunteer at Caring and Sharing Thrift Store.
Survivors include two sons, John Sheley Jr. of Pinckneyville, and Steve (Maria) Sheley of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Elizabeth Sheley (Dave Hughes) of Alexandria, Virginia; and one grandchild, Cara Rose Almada of Vernon, Connecticut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Steven Ross Reel II; and sister, Betty Wilkerson.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, with Fathers Brian Barker and Augustine Ibezimako officiating. The Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Caring and Sharing Thrift Store or Perry County Humane Society.
