Meredith Roy Mitchell of Du Quoin
Meredith Roy Mitchell, 76, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018 at his residence.
Meredith was a machinist. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. Meredith was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 647.
He was born July 27, 1942 at Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of Thomas Roy and Marjorie Irene (Ginn) Mitchell.
He married Sandra Carol Smith on June 12, 1962 and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; four children, Tom (Patsy) Mitchell of Elkville, Steve Mitchell of Du Quoin, Curt Mitchell of Carterville and Christina (Carmen) Mitchell of Du Quoin; grandchildren, Caleb (Crystal) Keigley of Dowell, Stephanie Mitchell of Elkville, Nicholas (Jennifer) Mitchell of Carterville, Allyson (Brian) Mitchell of Newton, Illinois, Taylor (Alec) Waldron of Carterville, Kelsey Mitchell of Elkville, Noah (Dalton) Mitchell of Vergennes, Lauryn Mitchell of Cobden and Gauge Mitchell of Cobden; one sister, Julie Wilcox of Green River, Utah; sister-in-law Loretta (Emmett) Klump of Pocahontas, Illinois; brother-in-law Alen (Rashon) Smith of Murphysboro; and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
Per Meredith's request, cremation services were held. Private family services were held.
Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin American Legion, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
