Helen Mason of Du Quoin

DU QUOIN - Helen V. Mason, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:12 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Helen had worked at Western Union for 20 years and at Miller's Mutual Insurance in Alton for 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin.

She was born Aug. 31, 1933 at Oakland City, Indiana, the daughter of Robert E. and Lucille M. (Miller) Mason.

She is survived by one brother, Bill (Nadine) Mason of Du Quoin; one brother-in-law, William Otten, of Detroit; six nieces and nephews, Kathy (Lybrand) Beard, Anita (Clyde) Gross and Michael (Donna) Mason, all of Du Quoin, Natalie (Stephen) Luyckx of Bloomfield, Michigan, Anita (Paul) Ferretti of Macomb, Michigan, and Rachael (Bob) Brown of Troy, Michigan; 16 great-nieces and nephews, Pamela (Eddie) Pursell, Derek (Tiffanie) Beard, Jonathon (Andrea) Mason, Matthew (Annie) Mason, Elizabeth Gross, Samantha Gross, Connor Luyckx, Alexander Luyckx, Camryn Luyckx, Haley Ferretti, Ava Ferretti, Grace Ferretti, Lydia Ferretti, Adam Zaretti, Joel Zaretti and Julia Zaretti; and five great-great-nieces and nephews, Addison Pursell, Edie Pursell, Bo Mason Beard, Beckett Beard and Leonard Julian Luyckx.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sharon Otten.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with the Rev. Tim Woodard officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
