Scott Smith of Du Quoin
DU QUOIN - Scott E. Smith, 58, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:34 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 at his residence.
Scott had worked in maintenance for General Cable. He supported Wounded Warriors Group, ASPCA, HOG and ABATE. Scott was a big family man. He enjoyed golfing, going to auctions and riding his Harley.
Scott was born April 11, 1960 in Joliet, the son of Charles and Mary (Rockett) Smith.
He married Elizabeth Ann Steinlicht on May 8, 1989 in Joliet, and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2011.
Scott is survived by three children, Jacob (Kristina) Smith of Benton, Justine (fiancé Aron Prosise) Smith, of Royalton, and Franklin Smith of Appleton, Wisconsin; his mother, Mary Smith of Joliet; one stepdaughter, Amanda Matay, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three brothers, Thomas Smith of Minooka, Timothy Smith of Plainfield and Terrence Smith of Royalton; one half-brother, Patrick Smith of Fowler, Kansas; grandchildren Luna Smith, Adyn Smith, Gavin Smith, Elizabeth Smith, one granddaughter on the way, and Jaiden Broyles.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, wife, one son, Nicholas Smith, one brother, Micky Smith, and one sister, Margaret Smith.
Per Scott's request, cremation services were held. There will be no public visitation or service.
Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements. Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
